Thor’s Early Identity Crisis on Sequart

Thor_04My celebration of Thor continues this weekend with a guest post I provided for the Sequart Research & Literacy Organization, aka Sequart.org, about Thor’s “identity crisis” during the first few years of existence. In this article, I examine how the original Journey Into Mystery creative team of Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and Jack Kirby appeared indecisive about if Thor was an average man who became an actual Norse god, or an average man received has superpowers similar to that of a god. The inconsistencies in the characterization make for a frequently goofy reading experience until later creative teams settled on certain themes and tones for Thor.
