The fourth installment of my ongoing series for the Sequential Research & Literacy Organization (aka Sequart) about the Walking Dead is posted for your reading pleasure. In this series, which runs every other Friday on Sequart, I look at “garden and wilderness” themes in Kirkman’s wildly popular comic book series – i.e. how the characters’ desires for a safe “paradise” from the post-apocalyptic zombie-infested wilderness is often tripped up by human nature’s frailties. Today’s post looks at issues #20-24, the middle chapter of the “prison arc” which features protagonist Rick Grimes’s famous “we are the walking dead” speech.
