Guest Blogging: The Memories of Superior Spider-Man

The week of guest blogging continues as the first, of what I hope to be many, of submissions was published this week at Sequart. As someone who really values higher education and prides himself of trying to provide original analysis for the comics I write about here on Chasing Amazing, Sequart is like a dream come true. The Sequart Research & Literacy Organization is a non-profit organization devoted to promoting comic books as a legitimate artform. Their web site is filled with original essays from individuals who are much smarter than me that look at complex concepts within comic books. A month or so ago, I pitched an idea to them about how Peter/Doc Ock’s memories were portrayed within Superior Spider-Man and how it reminded me of some of the concepts famed neuroscientist Oliver Sacks wrote about in such books as The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat, and Anthropologist on Mars. The great people of Sequart graciously let me work on this piece and I was happy to see it published this week. I’ve pitched some other ideas to them, so obviously stay tuned to see if more make their way to this fantastic web site.
