Taking a cue from the current pages of Superior Spider-Man #1, for my latest Gimmick or Good? column at CBR’s Comics Should Be Good blog, I take a look at 1992′s Spider-Man 2099 #1. This red foil book was the first installment in Marvel’s 2099 line and featured a script by Peter David and pencils by Rick Leonardi. The comic marked the debut of Miguel O’Hara, a Spider-Man from the future who recently returned to the Marvel universe in Superior Spider-Man #17. Did I think this issue was a gimmick, or was it good?
