For my Gimmick or Good? column at Comics Should Be Good, I move away from superhero comics this week with a review of Neil Gaiman’s Sandman Special #1. Gaiman’s Sandman series is considered one of the most important and well-written comic book titles of all-time. The Sandman Special #1, was a one-shot issue that also sported one of the first glow-in-the-dark covers in comic book history. Do I agree with the consensus of Sandman, or did I just think the story was another 1990s gimmick?
