I really loved these two issues and see them as perfect examples of what the medium allows you to do. Like any good character, Spider-man proves his versatility in these "one-off" stories that utilize his pre-established nature to tell odd stories that wouldn't fit anywhere else. I can see why you might get hung up on the unbelievable nature of the story and time travel being created by one guy in secret but this is also the universe where Peter Parker invest cryogenics a few issues earlier, a technique that would revolutionize a number of modern industries, to very little fanfare (except that he might possibly get an article in a science journal.)

In the end, in a world where Mr. Fantastic is delving into the past, present, future, and alternate dimensions I find it a little less insane that a guy created a portal that only goes a day ahead in time. This is mitigated by how incredibly cool the design of how time travel works in this story and the fact that Peter Parker is allowed a win. It is this character exploration that makes it strong as we get another time for Peter to shine and his relationship with Mary Jane to be further explored.
